Fuck! Shit! Wardrobemalfunction!
Fuck! Shit! Wardrobemalfunction!
I don't really have much comment here: The Supreme Court is reviewing network indecency standards this week. Apparently, all the recent slip-ups on live TV have set some folks a-squawkin'.
Well, I do have a comment: do we really need the Supreme Court to do this work? Can't we leave them to--fruitlessly--condemning the treatment of prisoners in Guantanamo Bay, for example? Or deciding on essential issues of individual vs. group rights?
Well, I suppose this is one of those issues, but it's a matter of degree. I don't think anyone really cares whether or not you can swear on TV. It's not like having to say "damn" instead of "shit" is going to inhibit your exercise of free speech. I'm more concerned about network advertisers inhibiting good television show content.
Yeah, okay, I don't really have that much to say about it after all. What do you think? Is this issue of any real importance?
